Applies to the SEO Lens Chrome extension, version 1.0.2 and later. Last updated: October 21, 2026.
SEO Lens collects no data. It has no account or login. It does not use analytics or tracking, does not log anything remotely, and has no server of its own. Nothing you browse or audit is sent to the developer or sold to or shared with anyone.
seoLensReview) are saved in chrome.storage on your computer. Nothing else is stored, and nothing is sent anywhere.SEO Lens makes network requests only for checks you start yourself (and the status check repeats automatically only if you granted the optional webRequest permission):
robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and indexability of linked pages. Those requests go straight from your browser to the websites being checked. They do not pass through any SEO Lens server, and the extension does not keep the results after you close the panel.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
activeTab | Fallback access to the tab you click the toolbar icon on. |
scripting | Runs the audit code in the tab you opened the panel on so it can read the rendered page (headings, links, images, meta tags, schema). |
storage | Saves your light/dark theme and the review-prompt counter on your computer. |
sidePanel | Shows the audit in Chrome's side panel next to the page. |
Host access (http://*/*, https://*/*) | Lets SEO Lens read the page you open the side panel on (Chrome does not reliably grant activeTab to side panels). It also lets the network checks you start (broken links, file sizes, status, redirects, robots.txt, sitemap, indexability) request those URLs. The audit script runs only in the tab where you open the panel. No browsing data is collected or sent anywhere. |
Optional webRequest | Records each redirect hop (status code and location) for the extension's own status check request. It does not monitor your browsing. If you decline it, the panel shows only the final URL. |
You can revoke optional permissions at any time from chrome://extensions → SEO Lens → Details.
SEO Lens contains no third-party SDKs, ads or trackers, and it loads no remote code. Because it collects no personal information, it collects none from children.
If this policy changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Any future feature that collects data would be disclosed here and in the Chrome Web Store listing before it ships.
